Health technology

In today's world, where healthy ageing and longevity are increasingly important, prevention plays a major role. And this is exactly the role of the Preventika Medical-Dental Center - to provide high-tech and precise diagnostic solutions to help people lead a healthier and more active lifestyle.

DEXA SCANNER

The DEXA method is the GOLD STANDARD for determining bone density, the presence of osteoporosis and assessing overall body composition (the distribution of fat, muscle mass and bones).

The scan is completely painless, fast, and with low radiation exposure, and requires no preparation.

The scan takes 15 minutes, and the results are available after a further 15 minutes.

DEXA тест за остеопороза

What are the risk groups:

  • People over 40 have an increased risk of developing osteoporosis;
  • Smoking, alcohol, and coffee consumption;
  • Previous fractures;
  • Women going through the menopause - estrogen levels fall, reducing bone density;
  • A sedentary lifestyle and reduced physical activity;
  • An unbalanced diet.

 osteoporosis

The DEXA scan can be used to:

  • Measure the amount of bone loss;
  • Assess your risk of fractures (broken bones);
  • Confirm or exclude a diagnosis of osteoporosis;
  • Monitor the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatment;
  • Assess the areas after metal plates have been placed;
  • It measures body composition very accurately.

A DEXA scan is many times more efficient than a normal X-ray, and the level of radiation is much lower than a standard X-ray. This is why the radiologist stays in the room with you during the scan.

X-ray exposure is minimal and the radiation dose is extremely low. During the test, a type of X-ray radiation called dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry is passed through the body. Some of the radiation is absorbed by bones and soft tissues, and some passes through the body.

Because of the low level of radiation, it can be done every year.

osteoporotic trauma

The test results are processed by computer software and then read by a specialist. If abnormalities are found, the specialist will refer you to an endocrinologist or rheumatologist.

Although radiation exposure is extremely low, bone density scans and X-rays are not recommended for pregnant women because X-rays can harm an unborn baby.

! Osteoporosis is an asymptomatic disease that weakens bones and makes them more likely to break. It affects both men and women over the age of 40. In Bulgaria, 21% of women and 6% of men suffer from this disease. It progresses gradually and leads to thinning of the bone density, which increases the risk of fractures.

DENTAL X-RAY

A dental x-ray allows dentists to see in detail the cosmos hidden beneath your teeth and to refine the treatment plan for your teeth. Therefore, the quality of the X-ray itself is also of fundamental importance.

At Preventica we use the latest generation of X-ray equipment - the Hyperion X9Pro from MyRay. It works with the highest resolution on the market, uses new 3D technology and performs a wide range of 2D studies.

INVENIA ABUS

Invenia ABUS is an automated breast ultrasound screening system available at Preventica. It supports the accurate diagnosis of various breast diseases, an irreplaceable and at the same time gentle research method.

Who is this study for?

  • Women up to the age of 45 (recommended once a year)
  • The addition of ABUS to mammography (FFDM) in women with high breast density significantly increases the chance of detecting breast cancer.
  • Increases sensitivity in breast cancer detection (mainly through the ability to perform coronal reconstructions, which provide more diagnostic information)
  • Women with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer
  • Short examination time
  • No radiation exposure!
  • Completely painless!

abus breast examination mamology

ABUS clearly shows the anatomical structures of the breast. This helps to differentiate between fluid and solid formations and malignant and benign lesions. Scientific research shows that the additional use of ABUS increases the chance of detecting breast cancer by 2 to 6 times.a

According to statistics, newly detected cancers are in advanced third and fourth stages, leading to expensive treatment and a fatal outcome. Invenia ABUS detects tumours at a very early stage, which has a significant impact on disease progression, therapy and follow-up.

FLEXIBLE NASOPHARYNGOSCOPE

The nasopharyngoscope is placed successively at the level of the hard palate and then at the level of the lower edge of the soft palate, recording the static and dynamic changes that occur during forced inspiration with the mouth closed and the nose blocked. The examination is performed in both the sitting and lying position to assess the collapsibility of the pharyngeal structures, imitating conditions that are as close as possible to the physiological conditions of sleep.

AUDIOMETRIC CABIN

Audiometric testing is a painless and non-invasive hearing test that determines a person's ability to hear sounds of varying intensity (power) and pitch (audiometric standard).

The aim of such a hearing test is to accurately assess your ability to hear different sounds and their intensity and pitch.

audio booth checking children's hearing

The results of audiometric tests are used to diagnose the cause of hearing loss or ear disease, and the resulting data is presented graphically in the form of an audiogram.

During the test, the patient wears headphones and is instructed by an ENT specialist who applies the frequencies heard to the graph.

The cabin has a lockable door, a window for visual contact between the patient and the doctor, and the necessary connections for connecting the audiometer and its accessories.

Common causes of hearing loss include:

  • Hereditary problems (otosclerosis)
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Inflammation of the middle ear
  • Diseases of the inner ear
  • Inflammation of the middle ear
  • Ear injuries
  • Perforated eardrum
  • Foreign body
  • Daily exposure to loud noise
  • Medications overdose

CARDIOPULMONARY TEST

A cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) is considered the gold standard for diagnosing patients with symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, palpitations or other symptoms of heart disease.

The device is suitable for assessing the training process and progress of active and professional athletes. The test is also an excellent basis for expert assessment of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and the effect of drug treatment in various diseases.

cardiopulmonary stress test (CPET)

  • Examines cardiovascular/pulse rate, arterial pressure, ECG, respiratory rate, tidal volume and respiratory gas analysis during exercise.

A CPET identifies problems directly related to the patient's physical condition - the device's accurate results are used for pre- and post-operative assessment, differential diagnosis of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, for example:

- in case of respiratory problems;

- Following COVID;

- Detection of exercise intolerance;

- Assessment of physical training progress;

- People with diabetes or other risk factors who are about to exercise.
